Bacterial Adaptations When Antibiotic - Immunity Collaborations Fail

Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, and 2026-2027 President of the American Society for Microbiology
Dr. Cooper is Professor of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics and Director of the Center for Evolutionary Biology and Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. His laboratory studies how microbes evolve and persist at the host interface. The presentation will describe how genome-scale studies of ongoing evolution by Acinetobacter baumannii and Streptococcus pneumoniae in mice points to causes of treatment failure in humans.
