The Pekosz laboratory has been studying the replication of respiratory viruses such as influenza, hantavirus, SARS-CoV and enterovirus D68.  Studies of virus replication and virus-host cell interactions have been facilitated by the use of primary, differentiated respiratory epithelial cell cultures derived from various parts of the respiratory tract and from different animals. Currently, Andy co-directs the Johns Hopkins Center of Excellence in Influenza Research and Surveillance and is the President of the American Society for Virology.
